Make your own cell phone ringtone!

Ok this is definitely not a scam. I know when you usually see headlines like that it's when someone accidentally gets a virus on facebook that writes some bogus message about free ringtones on your wall, but I swear this one is legitimate. It's a website called Mobile 17. Go to the following URL: www.mobile17.com. Follow the instructions to create an account for yourself, and then begin making sweet real music ringtones for cell phone. I have been using this site for over 2 years now, and it's no hassle at all. You create the rings for free and you customize the length (up to 45 seconds) and where in the song the ringtone will start directly from songs you have in your iTunes library. It's so simple! You can also send pictures from your computer to your phone with this program that you can use to customize when some of your close friends call you. There is literally only one downfall that I could find with this site, and that is the fact that you have to wait for the site to send you your ring sometimes. If you want the ring for free, you have to wait. If you want you can get the ring immediately for a small donation, but I usually have the patience to wait.

So for all of you who know me, and think you are a close friend of mine - check my phone sometime. If I haven't given you a ringtone or at least a photo - we aren't as close as you thought we were. SORRY! Otherwise - happy ringtone creating kiddos. You will be completely addicted!

Wub scared me with this...

Ok so about a month ago Wub showed me this video and it is literally the first cartoon that has ever disturbed me this much. I mean seriously - whoever created this must have been high on something dark and wicked when they created this. And of course it would only be fitting that Wub showed me this. Thanks again Wub - really.

A secret show you should all know about...

Last year Showtime began running a brilliant London-based show called Secret Diary of a Call Girl starring Billie Piper.  The show is based off of the writings of the original high class London call girl Belle de Jour.
The first few episodes don't shy away from the scandalous, hardcore and sometimes dark side of being a call girl.  Belle lays down the rules of being a call girl to the viewer while revealing her personal touches to the business.  And that is what sex is to her - business.  There is no time for relationships when your work is sex, and she makes that ever apparent as the series goes on.
The best part about this show is that it's not all about Belle the call girl.  The series also has a lighter side to it, showing you the difficulty that Belle has being her normal self aka Hannah.  Hannah lives most of her life laying low during the day, avoiding her family, and only taking time to hang out with her best friend Ben (who I think is quite handsome).
The bottom line is, this show is a must see.  I was introduced to it by my roomie Chloe, and now I am passing it on to you my fabulous readers.  Currently the show is in its second season, so if you can rent season 1 first, all the better.  Season 2 has started off smashingly, and I can't wait to see how it concludes.  Belle has thus far been confronted with problems ranging from her tubular shaped boobs to the enraged wife of a client.  If I am right, this show will be picked up for a 3rd season without a doubt.  Of course for your viewing pleasure I have included the video to the show's trailer below.  Enjoy and happy watching kiddos!

Changeling won awards for a reason, and I totally get it now!

The combination of Clint Eastwood directing and Angelina Jolie acting made it easy for me to rent this movie once it came out on DVD. Honestly, the only reason I didn't see it when it was in the theaters was because of how busy I was at work at the time (what a joke that turned out to be by the way).

Changeling is what I would call a work of theatrical genius. Angelina Jolie's character Christine Collins is a strong and persistent woman who fails to roll over and take whatever the corrupt 1920's LAPD threw at her. Five months after her son Walter goes missing, she gets a call stating that the cops have found him; to her surprise, the boy that she is presented with is not her son.

I will save the rest of the story for you to watch, but what you can be sure of is that you will be completely disturbed at the end of this movie. The despicable behavior of the LAPD towards a woman who is just looking for the truth about her son will make you shutter - especially once you realize that this was actually a true story. I highly recommend that you rent this movie if you get the chance. Happy movie watching kids!

Taken took my breath away...

Today I went with the boy-toy to go see the thrilling movie Taken. After hearing such wonderful reviews about it from my friends and from the news, I decided that I was ready to go see it.

The story is about an ex-government agent Brian (Liam Neeson) and his journey to find his kidnapped daughter after she is taken and sold to a slave dealer. The movie supplies the viewer with plenty of suspense with the hand-to-hand combat scenes, the car chases and the gun fights. My favorite scene of the entire movie I will say is when the daughter is actually taken - the way they give you a moment of false hope that she won't get taken and then BAM! She is dragged by the legs out from under the bed.

So for those of you who love movies that are suspenseful, thrilling, and have a well developed storyline - this is your movie. Cheers to its director Pierre Morel for doing such an amazing job. I was definitely impressed. Happy movie watching kids!

The Wackness - not as wack as I thought it would be!

Since I have that fabulous Blockbuster 2-week free membership, I decided to maximize my movie watching these past couple of weeks. The most recent arrival to my mailbox was the drug-pusher movie The Wackness. Although most people know this as "the movie that one of the Olsen twins was in", there was so much more to the story than meets the eye.

It's true, Mary-Kate Olsen does have a small role in the movie as a spaced out, drugged up hippie who nearly screws an old man in a phone booth, but aside from that, she is basically non-existent to the overall plot.

What you need to know about this movie is that it is set in NYC in 1994, it is about an 18-year-old pot pusher (who in my opinion is quite a cutie) and his quest to figure his life out during the summer before he leaves for college. He was a loser in high school and his only friend in life is his psychiatrist (whom he pays with weed).

What I found to be interesting about this movie is that everything doesn't totally wind up hunky-dory at the end. I will say that the lead character does figure out his life at least for the time being, but more importantly he realizes that it isn't he who was the loser in life, but the people around him.

My thought is that most of you will actually hate this movie after you watch it; however to those of you who actually look deeper into a movie than just the top layer, you will get this movie more than some of the critics did. I give it an overall thumbs up - but if you are part of the crowd who can't dig deeper into the meaning of movies - stay far away from this one. Also - for those of you who are into the old school hip-hop scene (I'm talking Notorious BIG type stuff), if you don't feel the need to see this movie, at least download the soundtrack. It features hits from Faith Evans, R. Kelly, Notorious BIG, Method Man (who stars in the movie as a Jamaican drug dealer), Craig Mack, and more. I just downloaded the entire thing myself - totally worth it! Below I have posted the trailer to the movie for all of you who aren't familiar. Happy watching kids!

This poor child has made my day!

Ok so after watching this video you should realize that having kids may not be such a bad idea for your future...why? Well because you can totally screw with them by taping them at embarrassing times, and then post the videos on youtube to share with your friends and family. So to all of my friends who are married or engaged - please have kids so that you can keep Auntie Holls entertained for the rest of her life...

And you know for sure that if I do wind up popping one out in my future - I will have my trusty camera on me at all times to capture the good times, the bad times, and the crazy drugged up after the dentist times.

It will be hard to top this wedding - Elizabeth & Drew Urbanski!

On a chilly Saturday morning, I woke up and prepared for what was to be one of the most stellar weddings I have ever been to - Drew & Elizabeth's day had finally come. I was ecstatic to say the least - this wedding had definitely been a long time coming! Who could have asked for a better pair of people to join in holy matrimony?

Our first stop was the beautiful St. Vincent's church in Elmont, NY. Of course, in true Holloway style - my crew and I (which also included Kat, Soberman, and Jason) - ran a teensy weensy bit late. We just barely missed Elizabeth walking down the aisle (boooo). As we snuck into the church like the stealthy ninjas we are, we saw a nice row that was calling our names - full of PSK brothers. We were finally home free!

So after the typical Roman Catholic wedding ceremony - full of its stand ups, sit downs, kneel and pray, hug your neighbors, pray agains, lighting the candles, vows, and kiss the brides, the ceremony was over, and as the newlyweds left the church, my crew and I headed to the local liquor store to get the supplies for the perfect reception after party (bud light, some random fruity drink for me, and Jason's terrible bud light lime).

We waved good-bye to Elmont, and headed to the next destination - our check in at the Marriott LaGuardia. Unfortunately I decided to make our trip into an adventure by putting in the wrong address into my GPS. Needless to say, after getting a little lost, driving the wrong direction, and at one point arriving at the wrong hotel - we finally made it to the right hotel for our check in. We speedily changed and freshened up, and made our way to the Douglaston Manner in Queens, NY for the reception.
The night officially started after the first Up All Night Martini was poured. The next question - who was going to be the mess? All I knew was that it wasn't going to be me!

The typical wedding events took place - entry of the wedding party, food, speeches by the father of the bride, father of the groom, best man, maid of honor, cake, etc. We danced, we sang, and of course in honor the happily married couple, we enjoyed some celebratory shots.

Life was good, the food was great (especially Soberman's entire meal since he thought I poisoned it - I got to eat the entire piece of prime rib - woohoo), and the couple looked gorgeous together. New friends were made, old friends were reunited, and of course the parents of the happy couple got a glimpse into just why Elizabeth and Drew love their friends so much.
Overall this wedding made me realize a couple of things about weddings in general - they can be super fun when you are with the right mix of people. With the fantastic crew I had traveling with me, in conjunction with the best bride and groom ever and the PSK brothers and friends that joined us, I had a magnificent time. This wedding gave me so much hope for the future weddings I have coming in the future (Michelle & Rob, Kwit & Steve, Jenna & Mike, Brad & Ashley).

One successful wedding gave me a new lease on the whole marriage thing, and I now know it is something I can handle with good friends in tow and a marriage I can seriously put Vegas-style money on. Congrats you two - you deserved it! To end this posting enjoy below a video of the mess of the night (Soberman) and of the bride getting her groove on!

Weight Watchers - the smartest non-diet ever created.

Recently I decided it was time to stop being like Oprah about my weight and actually choose a diet that works. After reading about the terrible diets out there (Atkins, South Beach, Slim Fast, Special K, and my personal favorite and most disgusting - Nutri-System) I decided that my best bet was with Weight Watchers. So $65 later - I was signed up for a 3-month stint with Weight Watchers online. This plan required that I enter in all of my food online, keep to my 22-point per day allowance, and do my weigh-ins every Monday. Thus far (and I signed up in January mind you), I LOVE IT! I am already 10lbs down - woohoo!

I will say that at first, I thought that I was the only one of my friends, aside from Jenna and her mom, that I have ever known who did this diet. Clearly I was wrong. As I have told people about doing this diet, Weight Watchers alumni have been coming out of the closet to me like my gay friends did in college!

So why did I choose Weight Watchers over the other 4 million diets out there? To me Weight Watchers creates a lifestyle. Instead of not eating carbs, or having a shake instead of an actual lunch, I get to continue to eat whatever I want! This includes my favorite foods - pizza, penne vodka, fresh mozzarella cheese, sushi, macaroni and cheese, shrimp, etc. I mean what is life without the ability to indulge in your favorite foods? I know that when I die, my friends will be able to say - she came, she went, and she damn well had some wings in between! So to all of you who are looking for a great way to loose weight in a sensible way, and for a diet that will teach you how to eat for life - I highly suggest Weight Watchers. Bon Appetit!

Why monkeys shouldn't be pets...

Ok - so as I was watching Law & Order SVU with my roomies Jason and Chloe, a clip from tonight's news came on. The top story for the NYC area (aside from A-Rod apologizing again for his steroid use) was about a 200lb chimpanzee viciously mauling its 55-year-old owner. By this I mean the thing literally ripped part of her face off with its bare hands. This leads me to believe two things...

1. If you are going to make the massive mistake of owning a monkey, make sure it's a little one like the monkey Ross owned on Friends - Marcel.

2. If you are over 50-years-old, your next thought shouldn't be - should I buy a monkey? It should be - where is my damn AARP card?!

Below - a picture of the evil evil monkeyyyy!

New Boost Mobile Commercial - GENIUS

I just wanted to share the following ad with you all. It's a brand new ad by Boost Mobile - and for once, I think they did a GREAT job. They used to have some of the worst cell phone ads on TV in my mind, but this one was great. Oh the thrills of working in advertising (well having worked in advertising I should say).

You love Italian - this is where you need to go!

Back in 2006 I worked with a great media planner named Meigan. After working with her for a couple of months we became close and started hanging out literally everyday. She soon became what I liked to call my "City Mom" and not only let me stay at her apartment every other night of the week (since I was living in Clifton at the time), but she also introduced me to some wonderful restaurants in the City. My favorite restaurant to date is a little place in Midtown West called Basso 56. From the moment I began dining at Basso, I knew it would be a place that I would frequent as often as possible. After a couple of dinners with Meigan and the girls at the restaurant, I even became close with the manager Alex. Alex made it even more fantastic for me to eat at Basso since he always gave my friends and I a warm welcome at the door and a nice tall glass of limoncello at the end of the night before we left.

Thanks to Meigan's wonderful taste and Basso's deliciosuly fresh Italian food, I wound up going back to Basso for everything from engagement parties, birthday dinners and even dates.

Here's the website for all of you who would like to take a gander at the menu - http://www.basso56.com/home.html. My personal favorites include the Tagliata di Portobello, Tegamino di Scamorza di Bufala, Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa and for dessert just a nice glass of Limoncello. So for those of you who may need a great spot to just eat with the girls, or for you guys who are looking for the perfect date spot, head to Basso 56. And definitely ask for Alex the manager - tell him Jess and Meigan sent you! PS - that's him below with my buddy Kim, me and Meigan.

Howie the intern - who is it?

You may not know the name "Todd Bosley" but you will when I show you THIS!

Yes that's right - Todd Bosley aka Howie has been in 2 influential movies from my childhood (which I KNOW you guys remember):

Little Giants (as Jake Berman)

Jack (as Eddie)

Anyway - I just thought I would take this time to say that from the moment I saw this dude on Scrubs, I knew it who it was! And let me say, he is just as awkward looking of an adult as he was as a child. The unfortunate thing is that as a kid, he could get away with his awkwardness as being cute - now - he's a little bit creepy mixed with a side appetizer of boring. Sorry buddy - if I had to choose, I would rather have Scrubs bring back hilarious Indian doctor over you (no seriously ABC - bring him back)! Below is a video of the Indian doctor that I hold close to my heart - BRING HIM BACKKKKK!!!

Flight of the Concords - DEFINITELY YES!

As an avid TV watcher, I happen to think I have great skills in picking out the best shows for my friends and I to watch. One of my more recent shows (ok well I have been watching for at least a year now) is called Flight of the Conchords which plays every Sunday night on HBO. For those of you who are not fortunate enough to have HBO right now, get to a friend's house who is on Sunday nights, and be prepared to laugh your sweet butt off.

So what is this show about anyway? Flight of the Conchords stars the 2 hotties you see in this picture (Jermaine on the left and Brett on the right) - two New Zealanders who have moved to NYC to make it big as musicians. Unfortunately for them, their music isn't too popular with the small crowds they play for - libraries, public parks, small bars - and their manager Murray (pictured below) is inept in getting them anything better.
If you take the time to watch this show, I promise you, you will be one happy camper. There hasn't been an episode that I haven't laughed at, and there hasn't been a week that I haven't eagerly looked forward to the next episode. Also, for all of you who don't know, Colleen Broomall (one of my best friends on EARTH) had the pleasure of having her dog play a small role in one of the episodes in the current season. So give it a watch - HBO - Sundays at 10pm. Happy watching kids! Here's a clip of the show for ya below.

Pathology - MUST SEE!

I recently went to Blockbuster and my other boyfriend (aka Ryan - the blonde haired, pony-tail wearing man who works behind the counter) told me I definitely needed to pick up the movie Pathology starring Milo Ventimiglia, Alyssa Milano and Michael Weston.

The movie begins as a love story between Alyssa Milano's character and Milo's, but soon turns completely dark and twisted. Milo's character Ted Grey leaves his fiancee behind to finish out his residency to become a board certified Pathologist in New York City. He soon finds out that some of his fellow residents are part of a dangerous game with the sole purpose of being the best in the business. I don't want to give too much away but I will say that this movie has a ton of sex, drugs, and definitely murder. For a movie that I thought was going to be similar to an episode of House, I was pleasantly surprised. I give this movie a whopping 4 out of 5 stars for it's originality, gore, and stellar ending. Happy movie watching kids!

The Brashley's are taking the plunge!

The two stunning people in this picture happen to be my good friends Brad and Ashley - and after, ohhh about 6 years or so, they are finally ready to take the plunge. THEY'RE ENGAGED!

Let me tell you a little bit about my friends and why I couldn't be any happier about their recent announcement.

I met both Brad and Ashley back in our days at the good old U of D. I couldn't tell you the exact day or moment that I met these two because since the day we met, we have had more adventures than most people get together in a lifetime. From Theta Chi formals to weekends in Cutchogue with Frank, I have had my fair share of fun with these two.

Now that they are engaged, I know that none of that will change - we just all have one more HUGE party to look forward to when they are ready to tie the knot - and more parties = more memories with Brashley. And of course let's not forget the little bundle of joy they already have (who I like to think of as my little furry nephew) - Ziggy!

To Brad and Ashley - congrats congrats! I could not be anymore excited for the two of you. Look forward to me throwing parties in your honor (March 13th???? You know you wanna) and of course to many more memories like we have already. Woo hoo! Below for everyone's viewing enjoyment, the engagement & the ring. Congrats y'all!

A new year - a new blog...

I recently decided to abandon wordpress because to be honest - their blog space was literally killing me! So let's begin my newest blog with a fresh, clean slate.

Welcome to my new blog - It's a Holloway world baby! This blog space will deliver not only the crazy stories of my life, but I will also be reviewing restaurants I've been to, movies I have watched, delivering news about my circle of friends and just giving my general opinion on life.

So welcome to the new blog - let's get started!
