Watchmen in IMAX - innnnteresting.

Last weekend I went to see The Watchmen at the IMAX theater on 42nd Street in NYC. My recommendation regarding this movie is as follows - DON'T SEE IT UNLESS IT'S IN IMAX! The sheer beauty of the graphics and special effects in this movie put the audience in aww throughout the entirety of the flick. I mean to put it bluntly, this is probably one of the most gorgeous movies I have ever seen.

Aside from the beauty of the movie, the storyline is a lot deeper than any hero movie I have seen thus far. This was definitely not your run of the mill X-Men/Superman movie. Watchmen is set during the 1960's after president Nixon and the military used a band of superheros to win the Vietnam War. Contrary to history of course, not only does the US win Vietnam with no problem, but Nixon stays in the presidency for a third term, working through the cold war with Russia. The story is about how the superhero group The Watchmen are being killed off one by one, and how this all ties into the cold war somehow. You also get the back story on how these superheroes came to exist, and how they came to work together.

So definitely go check out the movie, and figure out why the superheroes are being killed off and how it ties into the whole cold war scheme. And for sure, your best bet will be to see it in IMAX. Beware of one thing though - the vibrantly blue charachter named Dr. Manhattan is constantly naked for some reason. I mean this picture doesn't do him justice, but it's like constant full frontal blue nudity with this guy! It definitely detracted from his character a little for me because I was always thinking "How hard is it to wear pants?!"

And of course as usual I have put the movie trailer in here for you guys. It definitely doesn't explain do full justice to the movie, but enjoy regardless!
